Entry requirements
Additional Requirements: Students must have passed or been granted exemption from ACCA papers F1 to F9.Important external requirement: Students must be registered and have claimed any exemptions from ACCA by the end of July in order to join the course in September.Note: For students who have not completed all F level ACCA papers, there is the opportunity to study for these papers part-time at Leeds Beckett University and then progress onto this course.All applicants should satisfy our University English language requirements, please access further details at this link

IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.
Mature Applicants
Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

If you wish to apply through this route you should refer to our University Recognition of Prior Learning policy that is available on our website.

Please note that all applicants to our University are required to meet our standard English language requirement of GCSE grade C or equivalent, variations to this will be listed on the individual course entry requirements.

MODULES & LEARNING

This module aims to enable students to apply relevant knowledge, skills, and exercise professional judgement in carrying out the role of the accountant relating to governance, internal control, compliance, and the management of risk within an organisation - in the context of an overall ethical framework.

This module aims to enable students to apply knowledge, skills, and exercise professional judgement in the application and evaluation of financial reporting principles and practices in a range of business contexts and situations.

This module aims to enable students to apply relevant knowledge, skills, and exercise professional judgement in assessing strategic position, determining strategic choice, and implementing strategic action through business process and structural change, coordinating knowledge systems and information technology, and by managing quality processes, projects, and people.

To apply relevant knowledge, skills, and exercise professional judgement as expected of a senior financial executive or advisor, in taking or recommending decisions relating to the financial management of an organisation.

To apply relevant knowledge, skills, and exercise professional judgement in selecting and applying strategic management accounting techniques in different business contexts and to contribute to the evaluation of the performance of an organisation and its strategic development.

This module aims to enable students to apply relevant knowledge, skills, and exercise professional judgement in providing relevant information and advice to individuals and businesses on the impact of the major taxes on financial decisions and situations.

This module aims to enable students to apply relevant knowledge, skills, and exercise professional judgement in analysing, evaluating, concluding and reporting on the assurance engagement and other audit and assurance issues in the context of best practice and current developments.

Values, ethics and governance are essential skills for finance professionals. As part of your ethical development, you are required to complete the Professional Ethics module, developed by ACCA. This will give you exposure to a range of ethical perspectives and includes several self-tests which require you to reflect on your own ethical behaviour and values. You then apply what you have learned in a case study where you experience an audit situation from two points of view - that of the auditor and the corporate financial accountant.You are given access to the Professional Ethics module as soon as you become eligible to take Paper P1, Governance, Risk and Ethics. It is recommended that you take the Professional Ethics module at the same time as, or before, the Governance, Risk and Ethics paper.

The course is taught by professionally qualified accountants with significant experience of working as accountants, auditors and tax advisers. Feedback from students has consistently rated our accounting and finance tuition as amongst the best in the sector and our international students have praised the services offered by the University in a recent independent survey.

To supplement the ACCA modules and get you ready for the workplace the full time course also includes Professional Practice sessions which aim to help you focus your career ambitions, apply for jobs and develop the skills you?ll need to be a successful accounting professional.   • Before teaching at Leeds Beckett, Julie worked as an Audit Manager for the Audit Commission and was Head of Finance for the NHS Modernisation Agency. She was also responsible for managing the relationship between the Department of Health and its audit agencies and has supported the Permanent Secretary in appearances before the Public Accounts Committee. Just before joining our University Julie was Acting Director of Finance for NHS Direct.She is currently working with the Department of Health on the impact of changes to IFRS.
