Our Head of the School of Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour is a member of the CIPD's West Yorkshire Branch, based in Leeds, giving you access to excellent resources during your study.
Entry requirements
Requirements:Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. All suitable candidates who meet the entry requirements will be interviewed and required to attend a pre-course induction session. IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.
Mature Applicants
Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

If you wish to apply through this route you should refer to our University Recognition of Prior Learning policy that is available on our website.

Please note that all applicants to our University are required to meet our standard English language requirement of GCSE grade C or equivalent, variations to this will be listed on the individual course entry requirements.

MODULES & LEARNING

You'll be introduced to major debates about theory and practice in the specific fields of leadership, flexibility and change management. You'll also learn about the four main strands of HRM: learning and development; resourcing; reward and employment relations.

You'll be equipped with a range of fit for purpose skills appropriate to management practice generally and the management of HR more specifically.

Evaluate the principal internal and external environmental settings of contemporary organisations, within which managers, HR professionals and workers interact in conditions of environmental turbulence, change and uncertainty.

You will carry out an in-depth research project in a subject area that is appropriate to the course and of particular interest to you.

Undertake a critical study of employee engagement from the perspectives of the practitioner and the academic. Relate employee engagement to factors such as leadership, performance, well-being and organisational commitment.

Develop a conceptual understanding and evaluative skills, which are essential for effective personnel practice in an advisory capacity at both strategic and operational levels in an organisation.

Focus on the learning and development of leaders and managers within organisations so you can assess the value of leadership and management development to an organisation's success.

Understand, analyse and evaluate competing theories and perspectives associated with managing employment relations strategies, policies and procedures and their outcomes on organisational climate, employees and management.

Develop an appreciation of the interrelationship between management functions especially in performance and reward management, and the ability to link these strategically to the organisation.

You will be taught by an experienced, highly-qualified and dedicated team of lecturers, including a Course Leader with significant experience of leading masters degrees. Compared to other institutions this course has a higher number of contact hours and the course is three semesters.

At Leeds Business School we have a great established history and high reputation for CIPD accredited courses. There are strong professional links with the national and local CIPD branch. Students come from all over the world for this course and demand for this course is growing every year. We offer personal tutoring and coaching, ensuring that you will be well supported.

Professor Prince has also served as a member of the UK's Association of Business Schools' Executive, and as the Chair of the Management, Organisation and Community Development Steering Committee. An amazing place to spend your days

It is not every university that can offer you the chance to study in the best tall building in the world. But we can. Our City Campus is home to such award-winning learning environments as Broadcasting Place, voted best tall building in the world in 2010. Other buildings include the Rose Bowl, home to our Business School, which was awarded Best Commercial Property Development in the 2009 Yorkshire Property awards. Just over the road from the Rose Bowl is the Leslie Silver building which houses one of our impressive libraries across five floors. The library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year.
