Integrated Masters in Biomedical Sciences

Overview

Gain a thorough understanding of the human body at the molecular and cellular level, and study disease pathology, pathophysiology, microbiology and clinical biochemistry. You will undertake two research projects, working with tutors from our biomedical science research centre. Through hands-on work you will undertake in our laboratories, you will gain an understanding of how the human body works and learn how to use the very latest technology to diagnose and treat diseases. In your final year, you could choose to focus your studies in a specialist area before embarking upon an extensive research project aligned with your specialism and your course team's expertise.

Research Excellence Framework 2014
Research Excellence Framework 2014: twice as many of our staff - 220 - were entered into the research assessment for 2014 compared to the number entered in 2008.

Our course will further your employability by providing technical and laboratory skills, critical thinking and team working skills. There is a hands-on approach to learning, using lectures, tutorials and laboratory practicals, and you will be taught in our state-of-the-art biomedical sciences laboratories.

You will also have the option to take part in our exchange programme for either part or all of your second year - previous students have studied in America and Australia
