Overview

Developed and accredited by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), this course is ideal if you are a manager looking to progress into a senior communications or advisory role, or if you have completed the CIPR Professional PR Certificate.

As an established PR professional with industry experience, this course will enable you to build on and develop your existing skillset using real-life examples, with the option to use your current place of work as a case study.

You will complete three assessed units that reflect professional public relations practice. Each unit will focus on an element involved in delivering a PR campaign; your first will focus on strategic objectives, your second on content and delivery and your third on evaluation and professional ethics. You will attend two days of teaching on-campus before undertaking each assignment through self-directed study with the support of course tutors via email, phone or video calls.

The structure of this course will enable you to fit your course around your existing professional and personal commitments. You will learn via open-briefs meaning your studies will inform and enhance your professional practice and vice versa.

On completion of this course you will have the proven expertise and professional accreditation to advance into a more senior role. You will have the skills to future-proof your knowledge and keep up-to-date with trends and developments in a changing industry.

Leeds Beckett has more than 25 years’ experience delivering professional PR education and you will join a community with a wealth of academic PR scholarship to offer, including Professor Ralph Tench and colleagues who have written the best-selling PR education textbook in Europe. You will be taught by experienced academics and practitioners with a host of industry connections that will inform your learning.

We understand that full-time study does not suit everyone. That’s why we offer courses which give you the opportunity to decide where, when and how you can get involved in learning. Studying a distance learning course offers the convenience and flexibility to make education work for you. Whether you’d like to fit your studies around childcare, develop your skills while working or, quite simply, want to learn from the comfort of your own home, we can help you gain a qualification at a time and pace that suits your lifestyle.

Like our students on campus, you will have the same excellent teaching and learning resources, however you’ll find these online instead of in a lecture theatre. Not only are all the modules taught online, but you will also have access to an online community and more than 140,000 books and journals in our online library.
