Entry Requirements
Additional Requirements:

Applicants should have a HND, Foundation degree or equivalent award in a cognate subject.

This course is only available to speakers of English as a Foreign Language.

GCSEs: GCSE English Language and Maths at grade C or above or equivalent. Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy/Numeracy are accepted in place of GCSEs.

IELTS: IELTS 6.0 with no skill below 5.5 or have an equivalent.

Mature Applicants
Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

Please note that all applicants to our University are required to meet our standard English language requirement of GCSE grade C or equivalent, variations to this will be listed on the individual course entry requirements.

Many opportunities exist to help you integrate and learn more about the British way of life. This includes a range of societies you can join, where you can meet likeminded people and get involved in events and discussions of interest to you. Our Sports Centre is available for you to join, where you can take up a new sport, or continue with one you currently play. Our libraries are also open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, giving you access to books, learning resources and the internet whenever you want it.

You will develop your English language, study, research and employability skills and you will have a personal tutor who will support you throughout your studies. You will study your professional modules in lectures with British students. Alongside your language skills, you will gain a comprehensive knowledge of British culture, social institutions, politics and the business environment.

The English modules on this course are accredited by the British Council and taught by highly qualified and experienced teachers. We are also an approved Cambridge Delta centre.

In the International Student Barometer Summer Wave 2015 our Virtual Learning Environment was ranked 1st in the world and we were ranked 1st in the UK and 2nd in the world for our online library and technology* .

We also offer many international volunteering opportunities which can include working with people from disadvantaged backgrounds in South America, Africa, Asia and many parts of Europe. You'll have an incredible experience, make new friends, learn new skills and have something fantastic to write on your CV! The assessment methods used include reports, essays, examinations, presentations, web-based material, reflective reports and a dissertation. This mix enables you to get the most out of your course and develop skills that you can use in the workplace.

    Our course will enable you to fully develop the range of academic English skills you'll need for study at postgraduate level and to follow your chosen career path when you leave university.

    Sue has been teaching English since 1976, working for the British Councils in Greece, Belgium and Oman and living in the Middle East for 15 years, where she became the Assistant Director of Studies at the British Council in Muscat. Since joining our University in 1998, Sue has used her wealth of knowledge to develop our International Masters course and improve the experience of international students at our University.

The tuition fee for the year for students entering in 2016/17 is £9000. The amount you will pay may increase each year to take into account the effects of inflation.

Coaching and First Aid qualifications - You will have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications in coaching and First Aid. Individual costs will vary depending on the qualification.
