Overview

Businesses today face considerable challenges: the accelerating pace of economic change, global competition, deregulation, rapid technological innovation and volatile markets. This is your opportunity to become an expert in international business and gain the skills to play a leading role in a company with a global outlook.

You will study the demands of international business and develop your ability to manage cultural diversity in the workforce. Option modules will give you the opportunity to specialise in your own area of interest, and you will also benefit from learning alongside business students of different cultures and backgrounds from around the world.

You will study the delivery of international business strategies, build your understanding of how enterprises can achieve a competitive advantage in the global marketplace and improve your decision making.

Our classrooms and lecture theatres offer the ideal spaces to learn from the experiences and opinions of our expert academics and visiting industry speakers. We also have plenty of social learning spaces dedicated to collaborative working where you can debate and share ideas with your fellow students. These spaces are also kitted out with the latest IT equipment to help fuel your creativity.

Entry Requirements

Requirements:Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. IELTS:
IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.
Mature Applicants
Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

Please note that all applicants to our University are required to meet our standard English language requirement of GCSE grade C or equivalent, variations to this will be listed on the individual course entry requirements.

Develop a strategic organisational perspective as well as a basis for progression and application of strategic level skills, competencies, and decision-making capability.

Understand the special characteristics of HRM in Multi-National Corporations, specifically considering convergence and continuing divergence in the structures, policies and practices of different countries.

Study the inter-relationships of 'uncontrollable' (macro) environmental factors in international business environments, and examine the impact of these external environments on the international operation of enterprises.

Address the strategic and management issues global companies face when they operate across borders, reviewing strategic analysis and issues of formulation and implementation in various business functions.

You will carry out an in-depth research project in a subject area that is appropriate to the course and of particular interest to you.

Green Supply Chain Management

Develop functional knowledge and a critical understanding of key perspectives on human behaviour within the organisation and on the nature and processes of organising and managing human activity.

Gain a critical understanding of contemporary accounting and financing principles which support business decision-making and financial resourcing in both the private and public sectors.

Develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles and theoretical foundations which govern the modern marketing environment, allowing you to progress in a specialised area of marketing such as international or services marketing.

George has extensive practical and academic experience in the field of strategic management, R&D (research and development) and the adoption of new technologies and innovation. He has done extensive research and enterprise work in the area of buyer behaviour, with particular interest in online purchasing and the use of technology to enable the sustainable growth of businesses. He has also supervised and examined many PhDs both in the UK and Europe and is an external examiner for two UK universities.

    You will use Critical Decision Immersive Simulations in this facility to develop effective leadership and group participant skills. The simulations replicate the complexities of real life scenarios that would challenge decision makers, aiming to improve your decision making, critical thinking and communication skills.

The Rose Bowl, City Campus

It is not every university that can offer you the chance to study in the best tall building in the world. But we can. Our City Campus is home to such award-winning learning environments as Broadcasting Place, voted best tall building in the world in 2010. Other buildings include the Rose Bowl, home to our Business School, which was awarded Best Commercial Property Development in the 2009 Yorkshire Property awards. Just over the road from the Rose Bowl is the Leslie Silver building which houses one of our impressive libraries across five floors. The library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year.
