Mature Applicants
Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

MODULES & LEARNING

Develop a strategic organisational perspective as well as a basis for progression and application of strategic level skills, competencies, and decision-making capability.

You will learn to apply and use project management tools and techniques, including relevant software, and will develop transferable employability project skills. Students will learn to deliver projects on time, on budget and to the right standard.

This module explores a range of entrepreneurship theories and practices and involves an in-depth critical examination of business start-ups, the experiences of entrepreneurs and key aspects of small business management.

You will carry out an in-depth research project in a subject area that is appropriate to the course and of particular interest to you.

As an alternative to your dissertation, you could be selected to apply your learning to a real organisational issue of strategic level across any relevant business and management disciplines.

You'll be introduced to the supply chain concept by observing a variety of companies and how they are changing their business practices to achieve corporate objectives in the current economic climate.

Understand the numerical methods required for professional planning of procurement, logistics and operations areas of supply chains. You will study buying right quantities, ensuring ample financial, human and logistical resources are available while maintaining maximum organisational profit.

Enhance your understanding of how evaluating, managing and improving business processes in a range of settings drives the performance of an organisation.

Your flexible course will enable you to specialise in an area that interests you most. Our academic staff are experts and will guide you throughout your studies, ensuring you are informed by the latest industry practices and are ready to seize the opportunities your course will provide.

You could build your experience and meet potential employers while working on live projects in our purpose-built Professional Suite. You could also find yourself working as part of a team on a major project for an international organisation.

    Our course is challenging and will allow you to study key management disciplines such as strategy and entrepreneurship alongside the development of your conceptual and practical skills in modules such as Supply Chain Management and Logistics.

    Garry Carr has more than 20 years' of experience of teaching management at both undergraduate and postgraduate Level. He is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the American Academy of Management. He has consultancy experience within the private and public sectors and has research interests in strategic management, creative industries and organisational theory.

It is not every university that can offer you the chance to study in the best tall building in the world. But we can. Our City Campus is home to such award-winning learning environments as Broadcasting Place, voted best tall building in the world in 2010. Other buildings include the Rose Bowl, home to our Business School, which was awarded Best Commercial Property Development in the 2009 Yorkshire Property awards. Just over the road from the Rose Bowl is the Leslie Silver building which houses one of our impressive libraries across five floors. The library is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year.
