“I did my Certificate in Mental Health at Leeds Beckett and it whet my appetite to discover more, so I studied for a PG Certificate and masters degree here too. My course gave me a confidence I didn't have before, while the knowledge I've gained has enabled me to understand people's individual circumstances more deeply and how I support and work with them.

MODULES & LEARNING

Study the numerous approaches to understanding mental disorder and how they are utilised in practice. You will also look at how approaches to mental health (disorder) have developed from large institutional approaches to the present-day community care.

Increase your skills and knowledge regarding the roles and responsibilities of an AMHP.

You will gain in-depth understanding of mental health legislation and its application in practice, including up to date and practical applications of The Mental Health Act and related legislation.

You'll be taught by professionals who have extensive expertise in mental health provision - many of whom are already AMHPs or experts within mental health services - and by a practicing solicitor who specialises in mental health law. You'll also hear from service users who are experiencing mental distress, giving you a first-hand insight into the topic.
