You will be taught by experts in the sector, including construction barristers, construction mediators and chartered arbitrators. Learning from their expertise, you will develop the specialist knowledge required to draft pleadings that can be used in construction dispute claims. You will be encouraged to share your own experiences from the workplace allowing you to put your learning into context and to make it specific to your own needs.
Taught over one or two weekends, the course will enable you to fit your learning around your working life.
As part of the School of Built Environment & Engineering, you will be able to access all the benefits of being a Leeds Beckett student. Our onsite Library is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year, providing round the clock access to learning spaces and computers. You will also be able to access the support of our Student Hub and Student Wellbeing Team.
We understand that full-time study does not suit everyone. That’s why we offer courses which give you the opportunity to decide where, when and how you can get involved in learning. Studying a distance learning course offers the convenience and flexibility to make education work for you. Whether you’d like to fit your studies around childcare, develop your skills while working or, quite simply, want to learn from the comfort of your own home, we can help you gain a qualification at a time and pace that suits your lifestyle.
Like our students on campus, you will have the same excellent teaching and learning resources, however you’ll find these online instead of in a lecture theatre. Not only are all the modules taught online, but you will also have access to an online community and more than 140,000 books and journals in our online library.
Teaching and learning
The White Book provides very little guidance for the drafting of pleadings in construction disputes and practitioners therefore often have to rely on the services of expert counsel to produce effective pleadings. This course provides a platform for expert counsel to share those skills with construction practitioners and claims consultants.
