Entry Requirements

IELTS 5.0 overall with at least 5.0 in each skill for entry to courses which require IELTS 6.0 with no skill below 5.5.

IELTS 5.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each skill for entry to courses which require IELTS 6.5 with no skill below 5.5.

Mature Applicants
Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

If you wish to apply through this route you should refer to our University Recognition of Prior Learning policy that is available on our website.

    Studying in the UK is different to university study in many other countries. On this course, our students improve their academic English and become fully aware of the expectations of university study here, so that they are prepared for success on their degree or masters.

    Working all over Europe before settling at Leeds Beckett in 2003, Jane has a wealth of experience in teaching and teacher development. Her travels have taken her from the British Council in Lisbon, to universities in Moscow, Hungary and the Czech Republic. Jane's own research focuses on the teaching and learning process and she's currently involved in research on approaches to teaching second language writing.
