Rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield graduated from our University with an MA Sport Business in 2015. His former Leeds Rhinos teammate Jamie Peacock is studying the same degree and is due to graduate in 2016.
Entry Requirements
Requirements:Applicants should either have at least a second class honours degree or have equivalent experience or training, normally from within the work environment. English Language Requirement: IELTS 6.5 with no skills below 6.0, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.
Mature Applicants
Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

MODULES & LEARNING

Sport business organisations need to think and act strategically to succeed. Gain an insight into related aspects of the internal and external environment in order to formulate a holistic strategy for organisational development.

Study principles of economics and finance, using examples from the management of sports teams and clubs to illustrate economic issues and to give you an understanding of finance and funding for sports businesses.

Giving your learning a grounding in professional development, you will examine the theories and good practice surrounding HR and organisational development for managers operating in a sporting environment.

Undertake a major independent study into an area of your personal interest, relevant to your Sports Business course.

Stimulating an enquiring, analytical and creative approach to the study of sports marketing and PR this module aims to develop your critical understanding and awareness of contemporary sports marketing issues and practices.

Consider the area of enterprise and entrepreneurship with regards to business start-up, growth and sustained development, recognising the key role that strategy and finance play in achieving long-term success for sports businesses.

Professional Practice in Sport Business (20 credits)

This course has been designed to introduce you to the key principles and processes of sports business management, with the opportunity to customise your study to your individual needs and career aspirations through making considered assessment choices and, also, through the negotiated focus of the Major Independent Study.

Guest lectures will bring you into contact with professionals at the vanguard of sport business, inspiring your learning, enhancing your networks and boosting your career prospects.

Our University has outstanding sports facilities at both the Headingley Campus and the world famous Headingley Carnegie Stadium, which is an international base for professional cricket, rugby league and rugby union teams. FEES & FUNDING
Studying part-time gives you the flexibility to learn at your own pace. Because of this, our tuition fees are calculated using credit points. Each module you study has a credit point value. Most taught postgraduate modules have a credit point value of 20. The tuition fee for students entering in in 2017/18 on this course is £577.6 for each 20 credit point module. For modules with a different credit point value their cost can be calculated by multiplying the credit value of the module by the cost per credit point of £28.88. The amount you will pay may increase each year in line with inflation.
