Research Excellence Framework 2014
Research Excellence Framework 2014: 59% of our research submitted was assessed as world leading or internationally excellent.
This course has been designed to introduce you to the key principles and processes of sports business management, with the opportunity to customise your programme to your individual needs and career aspirations through making considered assessment choices and, also, through the negotiated focus of the Major Independent Study.

Our University has outstanding sports facilities at both the Headingley Campus and the world famous Headingley Carnegie Stadium, which is an international base for professional cricket, rugby league and rugby union teams. We enjoy fruitful partnerships with this famous sports arena, providing you with outstanding opportunities.

We understand that full-time study does not suit everyone. That’s why we offer courses which give you the opportunity to decide where, when and how you can get involved in learning. Studying a distance learning course offers the convenience and flexibility to make education work for you. Whether you’d like to fit your studies around childcare, develop your skills while working or, quite simply, want to learn from the comfort of your own home, we can help you gain a qualification at a time and pace that suits your lifestyle.

Like our students on campus, you will have the same excellent teaching and learning resources, however you’ll find these online instead of in a lecture theatre. Not only are all the modules taught online, but you will also have access to an online community and more than 140,000 books and journals in our online library.

Giving your learning a grounding in professional development, you will examine the theories and good practice surrounding HR and organisational development for managers operating in a sporting environment.

Stimulating an enquiring, analytical and creative approach to the study of sports marketing and PR, this module aims to develop your critical understanding and awareness of contemporary sports marketing issues and practices.

Consider the area of enterprise and entrepreneurship with regards to business start-up, growth and sustained development, recognising the key role that strategy and finance play in achieving long-term success for sports businesses.
