Entry Requirements
112 points required
UCAS Tariff Points: 112 points required. (Minimum 80 from two A Levels or equivalent, excluding General Studies).

Additional Requirements: GCSEs: GCSE English Language and Maths at Grade C or above (Grade 4 for those sitting their GCSE from 2017 onwards) or equivalent. Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy/Numeracy are accepted in place of GCSEs. Access to HE Diploma: Pass overall with a minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points. Scottish Awards: Minimum of 5 subjects at Grade B at Higher Level one of which must be in a National Curriculum subject. Irish Leaving Certificate: Minimum of 5 subjects at Grade C1 or above at Higher Level of which at least 3 must be at B2 one of which must be a National Curriculum subject. Selection Criteria: Due to the popularity of this course, we may use selection criteria based on your personal attributes; experience and/or commitment to the area of study. This information will be derived from your personal statement and reference and will only be used if you have met the general entry requirements. An enhanced criminal history (DBS) check maybe required for certain modules which involve working with children and/or vulnerable others. The DBS in the UK is currently not able to conduct overseas criminal record checks, therefore international applicants, those without British Citizenship and British Citizens with a significant period of overseas residency will therefore require a criminal records check or certificate of good conduct from their home/overseas country before undertaking work with children and/or vulnerable others.

IELTS:
IELTS 6.0 with no skills below 5.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.
Mature Applicants
Our University welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. We usually require some evidence of recent academic study, for example completion of an access course, however recent relevant work experience may also be considered. Please note that for some of our professional courses all applicants will need to meet the specified entry criteria and in these cases work experience cannot be considered in lieu.

Our excellent links with industry provide high quality work placement opportunities with organisations such as Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Leeds United FC, Leeds Rhinos and Leeds Carnegie. Previous students have undertaken work experience with high-profile organisations such as IMG, Sky Sports and many sports marketing agencies. We can also offer volunteering opportunities on a national and international scale which have included the Commonwealth Games, the Olympics and the Paralympics.

We work closely with Leeds Rugby and have even delivered modules in the world renowned Headingley Carnegie Stadium - one of the UK's busiest sports venues. We also work with the European Race Walking organisation which ran the European Championships here on our Headingley Campus, which previous students got involved with promoting and marketing this event.

Our staff are at the leading edge in their field. Many have worked in senior positions in a number of sports marketing industries and will enrich your studies with their high level of expertise and experience.

SPORT VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES

We offer a sport volunteering programme for anyone with an interest in sport. If you want to stay ahead of the game and have a competitive advantage in the job market then sport volunteering is an ideal way to gain extra knowledge and skills on top of your degree. Volunteering is a huge advantage if you want to pursue a career in the sports industry - and it will look great on your CV.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

You can also top up your experience with professionally recognised National Governing Body UK Coaching Certificates (UKCC), which are available to take at levels 1 and 2. In addition to the UKCC, Leeds Beckett University also offers gym and personal trainer qualifications which you can take to boost your CV while studying on your sports degree.

    Angela Green is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Marketing at Leeds Beckett University. It is here that she championed the idea, and wrote the UK’s first Sport Marketing and Public Relations degree programme.

FEES & FUNDING
The tuition fee for the year for students entering in 2017/18 is £9250. The amount you will pay may increase each year to take into account the effects of inflation.

Sports uniforms - Buying specific sports uniform or equipment is not a formal requirement; however you will be expected to wear appropriate clothing for sessions in different environments. The cost of clothing is variable and you may be able to wear something you already own if it is appropriate.

Coaching and First Aid qualifications - You will have the opportunity to gain additional qualifications in coaching and First Aid. Individual costs will vary depending on the qualification.
The tuition fee for the year for students entering in 2017/18 is £10500. The amount you will pay is fixed at this level for each year of your course.

Home to our first-rate sporting facilities – Headingley Campus has a rich and diverse history having played to visitors such as Winston Churchill and Oscar Wilde. Set in 100 acres of parkland, with easy access to Leeds city centre, many of our buildings look out onto our grassy acre – a perfect place for hanging out, playing games and catching up with friends on long summer days. Headingley Campus has modern sport science laboratories, animation and music studios and the latest computing labs, as well as one of our libraries, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
