Strategic and Digital Marketing

International Scholarships available

Overview

Designed to give you an in-depth understanding of the rapidly evolving field of digital marketing, this course will also give you the skills to research and devise effective strategies to help organisations be competitive.

Through a detailed understanding of consumer motivations and habits, you will explore ways to increase brand loyalty and market share through the use of the latest digital technologies and platforms across all marketing channels. This extensive theoretical and practical knowledge will provide you with a valuable skills base and will ensure you can make a significant and measurable contribution to your employer?s profitability.

In preparation for a successful career as a strategically minded digital marketer, you will choose to either research and write your dissertation to gain an in-depth knowledge of your area of interest, or you will manage your own live commercial project.
You will increase your employability with a digital specialism that is in high demand across all industry sectors. Our modules offer a solid mix of theory and practice and are designed and taught by both researchers and digital marketing consultants who are members of leading professional bodies, such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Academy of Marketing.

Group work, individual work and presentations will help to hone your communication skills. Lectures and seminars are supplemented by a guest lecture programme featuring a range of prestigious speakers - past speakers have included the Chair and President of the Academy of Marketing, the Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association and the Editor of Cosmopolitan magazine.

You will also have the opportunity to apply for a consultancy project with an internal or external client as part of your dissertation, to further boost your CV.

We understand that full-time study does not suit everyone. That’s why we offer courses which give you the opportunity to decide where, when and how you can get involved in learning. Studying a distance learning course offers the convenience and flexibility to make education work for you. Whether you’d like to fit your studies around childcare, develop your skills while working or, quite simply, want to learn from the comfort of your own home, we can help you gain a qualification at a time and pace that suits your lifestyle.

Like our students on campus, you will have the same excellent teaching and learning resources, however you’ll find these online instead of in a lecture theatre. Not only are all the modules taught online, but you will also have access to an online community and more than 140,000 books and journals in our online library.

“In today's news gathering operations, you need to be able to work both in print and digitally. Having undertaken the news and feature writing modules on my course, I know exactly how to write a feature when I need to and I am just as comfortable when I have to sub-edit some news copy.

Dr Carl Clare
Senior Lecturer
Carl obtained his PhD in 2013 and joined us at Leeds Beckett University in November 2014 after six years at Manchester Metropolitan University. His interests include consumer behaviour, in particular the consumption of sport.
One of my passions has always been, metaphorically speaking, understanding what makes people tick. Studying marketing and consumer behaviour at postgraduate level acted as a catalyst for developing this further within a business context. Our MSc Strategic & Digital Marketing could potentially act as that very same catalyst for our students.
